Nose Surgery

Also called rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure in which the shape or size of the nose is changed to give facial harmony and a symmetrical appearance. It can also be done for people who have difficulty breathing through the nose due to a structural defect of the nose.

The main indications for rhinoplasty are:

  • That the nose appears to be too long or too short.
  • That in the profile a hump (a small bone) can be seen on the back of the nose.
  • That the nose is too wide from a frontal view.
  • That the tip of the nose is too wide or has a sagging appearance.
  • Wide nostrils.
  • Any deviation or asymmetry.

This procedure is completely personalized according to the characteristics of each patient, and sometimes it may be recommended to combine rhinoplasty with chin surgery, cheek augmentation or a bichectomy to improve face’s harmony.

Recovery Time

Approximately one to two weeks. The first week after surgery, the patient will have a small but stiff splint over the nose, which will be removed approximately on the seventh postoperative day and will be replaced by a subtler skin-colored micropore tape splint which will be used for another week.
