The enlargement of the mammary glands in men is called gynecomasty. This condition can lead to psychological and social disorders. It is a very common problem and the surgery to correct it is done quite often.
A complete medical evaluation must be performed and once certain diseases that may cause it have been ruled out, surgery can be performed to correct them.
The surgery consists of performing a liposuction of the chest and when this is not enough, the resection of the mammary gland is also performed through an incision in the rim of the areola. In more severe cases, it may be necessary to dry the skin.
Candidates for this surgery:
Men who have completed their growth and development, in whom diseases of the endocrine system that cause growth of the mammary glands have been discarded.
Men who need to select their clothes keeping in mind that they have to hide their prominent breasts.
Men who have real expectations of surgery.
Depending on the specific case, rest is required between 7 and 14 days after surgery, avoid any effort or high intensity physical activity. It is necessary to wear a post-operative vest for 4 to 6 weeks.
